You have to love or hate this style of decorating that finds beauty in aged and worn things for the home. Shabby chic style of decorating was popularized by Rachel Ashwell who took us along with her in her flea market excursions and showed us how old bottles and ran-down furniture could be turned into beautiful functional items for the home. It manifests itself in shabby chic furniture, fabrics and bric-a-bra. It may look like clutter to some. To others is it a way of appreciating the old and the beautiful.
Shabby chic furniture is vintage and antique. It is usually heavily painted and distressed to show layers of old paint. Chips and scratches are welcome and considered a manifestation of character. Cottons and linens are favored fabrics. There is a distinctive kind of print that reminds us of French floral patterns.
Filing cabinets are usually made of metal. That makes them durable and sometimes fireproof. But if you want them to look like office furniture filing cabinets, they are also available in wood material. Filing cabinets made of wood will be great as it can match the rest of the office furniture. They are available in different kinds of finish.
This 2-drawer file cabinet in cherry is available online. It is made of wood composite in dark cherry finish. The drawers will accommodate letter and legal sized folders. Casters are provided for mobility. Another version is a nesting cabinet with casters. It consists of white drawers in a maple case.
I just love searching for unique pieces of furniture. One of my favorites that I found in a garage sale is this pedestal accent table that I proudly display and use in my dining room. It is a Cottage Oak 5-piece dining set that is absolutely adorable. The best thing I like about it, aside from the way it looks is the overall design that was used in making this table. It is a very stable table, with the supporting feet distributing the weight evenly to help keep the table from tipping.
The main advantage of this type of table is that the legs do not take up much space. Because it is supported by a broad central column attached to a set of feet, cleaning around this type of table is made much easier. It is very ideal in some settings and the cleaner does not have to navigate the legs in order to go underneath the table. You only need to be sure that the table is stable on its feet to be able to enjoy your pedestal accent table.
