My mother had just arrived from a trip with my father and both of them had missed out on my birthday. My father had just retired and they are making the most of the free time both of them have. As a doctor, my father tends to be really busy back in the days. My mother was really happy and is taking advantage of the opportunity that they can now enjoy their lives and make the most out of their free time.
It was funny because during my birthday I got one of those German cuckoo clocks when a delivery guy came knocking on my door. I was really surprised when I found out that my parents took the effort to make sure I get something for my birthday even if they missed it. My father knew how much I loved these things even when I was a little girl. It only goes to show how much he knew me and how he cared for me despite not having much time to spend with his children.
